Green Kelly Needlepoint Canvas

Introducing our own personal design- The Kelly. This canvas is perfect as a bag charm, ornament or would go beautifully finished in a tray. The needlepoint design itself is 3”x2.8”. The Kelly design is stitch painted on a minimum of a 6”x6” size 18 count zweigart canvas. 

 Did you know it was in 1930 Robert Dumas first designed the “Kelly” bag named the Sac à Dépêches for the famous Hermès fashion house.

Grace Kelly received the iconic bag after using it on the set of To Catch a Thief. After having a fairytale romance with her new husband the Prince of Monaco the Princess Grace Kelly became pregnant.

To shield her growing belly from the cameras, Kelly would hide behind her Sac à Dépêches. A photo of her holding the bag was featured on the cover of Life Magazine, prompting fashionable women the world over to flood Hermès boutiques asking for the “Kelly bag.”

It wasn’t until 1977 that Hermès officially renamed the handbag to the Kelly.
